With a grand start in Bath next to the world famous Royal Crescent it's not long before it's the first of the hills - and with over 2,500 metres of climb over the Full 100km course - this is a tough Challenge! The views out to the west over the Severn Estury are spectacular, and if you want to make the most of them there's a 100km 2 Day 'Daylight' option - with camping at halfway - and there's testing Half & Quarter Challenge options also.

As an individual or as a team it's a great way to do get fit, set a new goal, and to fundraise for a charity that's special for you if you want to. We'll be with you every step of the way - from kit advice, optional training walks, to moral support and great hospitality on the day.

FULL - Bath to Cheltenham

Setting out from the historic Royal Crescent in the centre of Bath Saturday morning we are soon out into the countryside along the Cotswold Way - with over 2,590 of ascent across the full 100km route to Cheltenham this is one of the toughest Ultra Challenges in the series. The climbs will test you but the views will reward you with some of the UK's best scenery. 

Distance & Elevation: 100km/ 2590m

Start location: Royal Crescent, Bath

Start times

  • 6.45sm - 7am Runners
  • 7am -10am Walkers/Joggers

 

Finish location: Cheltenham

 

Finish times: 

  • Runners - 9 - 16 hrs
  • Joggers - 16 - 20 hrs
  • Walkers - 20 - 36 hrs (max time)

 

Food & Rest Stops: Every 10-15km under marquees with support - including toilets, medics, Massage, changing rooms, rest areas, hot & cold drinks, snacks and much more.

  • 25km - sandwich picnic lunch
  • 49km - 3 course hot meal
  • 79km - dinner / cooked breakfast
  • 100km - cooked breakfast / BBQ
  • Glass of fizz, medal & t-shirt!

FULL Daylight - Bath to Cheltenham
      100km - over 2 days

If you want to tackle the full 100km challenge but see it all in daylight - then you can split the route up and take on the 1st half Saturday, setting out from Bath early morning, then stopping overnight at Wotton (49km) and either camping with us, or booking a local B&B. Then an early start on Sunday to tackle the toughest section of the route, view a climb up to Coaley Peak, where you will be rewarded with views of 5 surrounding counties, before descending into Cheltenham.

1st HALF - Bath to Wotton

The 1st Half Cotswold Way Challenge is a 49km route, with over 1090m of climb - a beautiful route, you will pass along the Cotswold Way through scenic villages and up some tough climbs rewarded by the views of the surrounding areas. A tough challenge but achievable with the right training!

2nd HALF - Wotton to Cheltenham

You can take on the 2nd half challenge either by joining someone on the Full Challenge from Wotton on the Saturday evening (any time after 5pm) or by joining our mass start on Sunday morning from 6 - 8am. The 2nd half is a tougher challenge than the 1st, with nearly ~1,500m of ascent (a third more than the 1st half). An ascent of Coaley Peak will reward you with fantastic views of the surrounding areas - where the descent undulates all the way to the finish line in Cheltenham!

  • Sun - 6 - 8am

  • Runners - 4 - 8 hrs

Our 1st Quarter Challenge is a great intro to the Cotswold Way - setting out on Saturday morning from Bath's historic Royal Crescent you will pass through beautiful scenery with some hilly ascents of ~670m, passing through Bath racecourse & Dryham park before finishing in the village of Tormarton.

 

 

Distance & Elevation: 25km/ 670m
